SportsEngine Registration: Ames Minor Hockey Association

Hockey Season 2019-2020

Welcome

2019-2020 AMHA Fall Season Registration

Registration for the 2019-20 Fall/Winter season is now open

Please see the 19-20 season rates below.  In general, rates were raised by 3.0% this year.  The main factor in our need to raise rates is the City of Ames increased their charge for ice time by 3%.  Ice time is our largest expense by far and has a direct influence on what we charge skaters.  As a board, we work very hard to keep fees as low as possible. Skater fees and fundraising/sponsorship are our only source of income, and we hope to increase our fundraising/sponsorship efforts to avoid future fee increases. We welcome all ideas for fundraisers and sponsors.

Additionally, if you have multiple skaters in AMHA Mite Level and above, you will receive a $100.00 discount.

We will utilize the same payment system used last year.   Payments will only be accepted by credit or debit card this year.  As you register your skater, you will be asked for a card number and authorization to charge this card for your annual fees.  The first payment will be due at the time of registration.  Each level will have a different number of payments due, and this is listed below with the charges.   The second payment will be due on Oct 1st, third payment on Nov 1st, and so on.  There is an option to pay your outstanding fees early if you are interested, please contact the assistant treasurer Kristine Loes at kristineloes@gmail.com.

The expectation is that the skaters are present during the entire tryout period to ensure proper evaluation. However, if some time needs to be missed due to conflicts, please communicate that with the proper coaching staff.  A thorough evaluation takes as much time as possible to ensure selections are made as a ‘best-fit’ for all parties and no spot is guaranteed if unable to participate in the full evaluation process.

Please register your skater(s) within the appropriate age group for which they are eligible to skate in this upcoming season. Those who are interested in asking for your child to be evaluated for a possible move-up this season should fill out the AMHA Player Move Up Request Form and submit to Fred Van Bergen. All player evaluations will take place during the tryout period, September 23 – 30th. If you have any questions related to the move up process, please contact Fred Van Bergen.

Learn to Play session will begin on Tuesday, October 22nd. Registration for the fall LTP session will be made available in mid to later September. If you are interested in participating in the LTP program, please wait to register during that LTP registration period. If your skater participated in the Learn to Play program last season and is age-appropriate, you are strongly encouraged to register for the appropriate age level team. I would encourage you to speak with Fred Van Bergen to determine the best option for your skater.

The official start to the season will be on Monday, September 30th.

Volunteer Requirments

Volunteer requirements will increase this year for both individual player families and multiple player families. The required credits are 15 for individual player families and 25 for multiple player families increasing payout option to $225 for individual player families and $375 for multiple player families. Board members, coaches, coordinators, locker room attendees, committee members, and game day assistance, are just a few options where volunteer credits are earned.

2019-2020 Concussion Information

Concussion Information

AMHA has partnered with McFarland Sports Clinic again this year to conduct concussion screenings. All new and current AMHA athletes born in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 need to get registered for a screening. Even though these years tested last year, McFarland has asked AMHA to start a new schedule starting this year. After this year you only have to test every 2 years. Those who tested last year, but are not testing this year will be required to test next year. High School players who have already done the concussion testing this year for other High School Sports need to notify Leslie the High School Coordinator and provide her with the scores. For more information and screening sign-up please clinic on the Concussion Info link above.

AMHA Practice Player Policy

The AMHA Practice Player policy is related to players who are participating in an AAA program or other specialized program and for players who would prefer to participate in practices only and not participate in tournament travel. If interested, please take a moment to review the updated policy and contact Fred Van Bergen with any questions.
